Every word you read or hear from me was written by me. Not AI.
It is an alarming (and very recent!) development that we would have to take steps to demonstrate our own humanity. But here we are.
As the massive profits behind AI push us into ever further dependence on AI, with AI "tools" sticking their tendrils into seemingly every area of our lives, it seems important to state clearly and loudly the places where AI has not yet infiltrated.
This is one such space.
My AI policy is simple: I don't use it for any of my writing, resource creation or courses. I enthusiastically, and with much love, write and create all of my courses, newsletters, emails, blogs, materials and other resources. If it is from me, I created it because I think (and hope) it might help you and your family.
Thank you to Aimee Cozza for creating this wonderful 100% Human Made Badge and for making it easier for creators to show their dedication to human creativity and expression).
Isn't it helpful/inevitable?
I am not going to debate the merits of AI generally - although I certainly have deep concerns about its environmental impacts, and the ethical and existential possibilities of the kind of unfettered progress we have seen so far.
What I want to name are some of the reasons I am personally choosing to stand with other creators and writers who are committing to a human-only creative process.
I have a deep commitment to using my own words because I believe in the life-changing power of real, imperfect, heartfelt human communication. I believe the language we use is a really powerful way we connect to each other and express our authenticity. This what I want to support you to have with your children, so I want to show that this is possible at all levels. We can speak for ourselves and do not need robots to speak for us!
I can see that AI has the potential to undermine human creativity. It takes a lot more time than “more efficient” methods, like using AI to write emails, articles and courses. I put huge amounts of time, care and energy into writing and communicating because I see the value of reaching out to each other with our words, even if they are sometimes imperfect. I prefer raw, messy, genuinely human writing and words over polished, AI text any day of the week.
I believe that trust flows from authenticity. I trust that the extra time, effort and energy I put into writing, editing and creating is worth it because you will feel that difference when you engage with my work.
I appreciate and stand with all of the other writers, artists, content creators, educators and all others who are working to maintain and communicate the value of human-made work. We are worth it and our humanity (and our children's) is well worth fighting for! )
I offer parents and families research-based, heart-centred guidance. My work is AI-free and offered on a gift economy basis, prioritising human connection over profits. Every contribution is greatly appreciated and directly supports my work.
