All of my services are offered on a Gift Economy basis. This means that rather than setting a "market price", I invite you to contribute an amount you are willing and able to give. This page gives more detail about why I offer my services this way, and what this means for you.
"The gift economy represents a shift from consumption to contribution, from transaction to trust, from scarcity to abundance and isolation to community" Charles Eisenstein, Sacred Economics.
What would the world look like if the principles of care, compassion and awareness of human needs that are at the very core of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) were integrated into every part of our lives...including our economic interactions with each other?
Which of our many current world crises (e.g. poverty, inequality, polarisation, the climate crisis, wars) might be resolved if the world’s resources flowed to human needs rather than to those who have the greatest advantages of birth or more savvy business strategies?
Through my work with parents, families and communities, I am committed to taking concrete steps to creating a world where we can truly care for each other, operate from connection to community and give and receive from a generosity of heart.
Instead of considering “what is the price?” (as in a typical economic exchange) a gift economy approach asks you to consider your needs and my needs together: What do we each need? This isn’t always easy; but it is very powerful, and potentially life changing.
A gift economy is an attempt to recreate a world where, even in our economic interactions:
we can all care for each other;
we acknowledge that our well-being is inextricably tied up in each others’;
our focus is on need (not greed);
people and planet are prioritised over profit and wealth accumulation.
All of my courses and services are offered as a gift. I put a lot of heart into creating these offerings, including a large amount of time, energy and passion. I would therefore like to let you know about some of the less visible, “behind the scenes” elements that go into these offerings.
I have extensive training and expertise that underpin everything I teach. I have a PhD in Psychology and am internationally certified as a Nonviolent Communication trainer. I have worked supporting parents and families for over a decade, and have years of training and experience in psychology, mediation, neuroscience, research, policy, and community building and communication. This is my passion and my life’s work. (Learn more about me here).
I put hundreds of hours each year into researching, planning, creating, writing, filming, editing, and developing materials for the parents and families I work with. I live and breathe the question of how to create more peace and connection in families and communities, and I put this back into my offerings.
I actually practice this stuff! I am very (very) human, so I work hard in my daily family life to practice what I teach, working to bring the principles of connection and Nonviolent Communication into every aspect of my life. Working with me, you can be confident that the practices and tools you hear from me are things I actively integrate into my own life with my children, my community, my friendships, my family, and my business practices.
I aim to use my skills, expertise and training to support you to make genuine change in your life. My courses are carefully designed using pedagogical principles, cognitive behavioural techniques and individual connection to motivate and support you to make lasting changes. I continually refine my offerings in line with the feedback I receive to make them as useful and engaging as possible.
Every word you read or hear from me was written by me. I research, write and create all of my courses, newsletters, emails, blogs, materials and resources. I have a deep commitment to authenticity, because I believe in the life-changing power of real, imperfect, heartfelt human communication. This takes a lot more time than “more efficient” methods, like using AI to write emails, articles and courses, but I trust that you will feel that difference when you engage with my work. (See my No AI policy here)
I put a lot of individual care and attention into supporting the parents and families I work with. Making change in your family life can be difficult, and I want to walk beside you for a time and support you to while you do this work. For my coaching programmes, I stay engaged through email, phone, text and one-on-one check in sessions. For my courses and online offerings, I am always an email away. I know that everyone's situation is different, and I want you to know that you don't have to do this alone.
All of my programmes and services are offered on a gift economy (pay what you are able/willing) basis. This means I invite people to choose an amount to contribute that feels comfortable for them, without stretching into hardship, while also helping me continue the work I love so much.
I would love for my offerings to be received as a gift, and I hope you can see your financial contribution in the same way.
I offer recommended ranges for all of my offerings to give you a sense of what amount will help cover my running costs and support my livelihood. I trust you to decide an amount that feels like a meaningful commitment, while respecting your financial situation.
My request is that you will consider what you are able and willing to give. When making the decision of what to contribute, the basic guideline (offered by Miki Kashtan) is this:
What is the most that you can give without overstretching or moving into resentment?
No. My programmes and services are freely given, but not free.
Supporting parents and families to bring more peace and connection into their lives is my passion, and I am committed to finding ways for this support to be available to anyone who need it, no matter their financial situation.
I offer recommended ranges for all of my offerings to give you a sense of what amount will help cover my running costs and support my livelihood.
Your financial contribution is essential to allowing me to meet my families’ basic needs so that I can live, care for my family, and continue to do this work I love.
I put a large amount of time, energy and passion into creating my courses and caring for the people I work with. My goal is sustainability, sustenance and a living wage, not profit.
It is my hope (and my experience) that people entering into my courses will engage with trust and mutual care into the spirit of the Gift Economy, considering what they are able and willing to contribute.
When people hear that that there is no set price for my courses, and that I welcome people even if they are not able to contribute financially, they sometimes assume that I receive external funding from the government or other funding organisations.
At this point, I do not receive any external funding for this work.
The funding for this work comes entirely from contributions from people I work with or who want to support this mission. Some people who contribute are directly receiving my support and care through courses and services. I also welcome contributions from those who are not directly receiving support from me but are interested in supporting my mission and helping other people to recieve this kind of care.
The financial contributions I receive are essential to allowing me to meet my family's basic needs, enabling me to continue to do this work, and helping make this support available to other families who need support.
Yes! You are warmly welcome here, no matter your financial situation. It is important to me that my services are accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation.
If your financial means are limited, you are welcome to choose an amount that will actually work for you.
If contributing below the requested range feels uncomfortable to you, please know:
a) I hold no judgment. It is such a gift to know I am contributing to transformation in families. There are times in each of our lives when we need more support, and times when we are able to offer more. I hope that you are able to receive support knowing that you are putting so much care into supporting those around you.
b) Financial contributions are just one way of supporting my work. If you’d like to contribute in other ways, I’d be deeply grateful. You can also help by:
Sharing my programmes with friends, on social media or with parent communities you are connected with.
Offering a testimonial sharing what value you received from my offerings.
Giving me feedback so I can keep improving what I offer.
All of these help me reach more parents and nurture more connection within families.
My request is that you contribute as much as you are able without overstretching or feeling resentful. This is a challenging practice and requires paying attention to your inner voice and intuition.
Many of us have painful stories about money and finances. I therefore recommend taking a moment to tune into yourself and consider:
What is your family's current financial needs, and what are you able to contribute without anxiety or resentment?
How does this compare to other things you would spend your money on in your daily life?
What is the value you have received (or you imagine you will receive) from this offering? How do you imagine it will contribute to your relationship with your child, the quality of your family life and your life in general?
What represents a gesture of commitment to fully engage with this work? What will represent your desire to make a lasting transformation in your life, and align with your values?
What is your desire to support my continued work, and supporting parents to bring peace and connection into their lives?
Based on these considerations, what are you able and willing to give?
I trust you to decide an amount that feels like a meaningful commitment while honouring your financial situation.
To give you a sense of what sustains me in offering my services, I offer recommended ranges. These are amounts that will help me cover my running costs and support my livelihood.
We are accustomed in our society to see the price as reflecting the value. I am wanting to offer in a different spirit - my ranges reflect what I need in order to be able to continue to do this work while supporting my family. I hope that you will choose what to contribute based on a consideration of your family needs as well as my needs.
The ranges I have selected are based on:
The amount of time, energy and resources I put into creating, developing, teaching and administering the service or course.
The ongoing costs of the resources and infrastructure needed to produce and maintain these services.
What I need in order to support my family to be able to continue doing this work.
I offer these as a guideline only, but you are very welcome to offer more or less. My courses are offered to you as a gift, and ANYTHING you choose to contribute will be received as a gift. I trust your choice, and am grateful for your contribution.
I do not offer tiered services - everyone receives the same care and service whatever you are able to contribute.
"I stay in deep gratitude and respect for you making this offering of your time and expertise accessible at a variety of rates. I cannot tell you how many times I speak to people about how much this work is helping me and has helped me."
“Thank you for making it possible for parents to do these courses. It is hard for families these days and most courses are out of reach, especially as a solo parent. I cannot tell you how much it means that you include us.”
“I am immensely grateful for the gift economy basis. It's the reason I got to experience this amazing course…Two of my friends have joined as well now. It is the support we mothers are so desperately needing. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere. Thank you so much!”
I offer parents and families research-based, heart-centred guidance. My work is AI-free and offered on a gift economy basis, prioritising human connection over profits. If you are inspired by my mission and would like to contribute, I’d be deeply grateful. Here are some simple ways you can support my mission:
Share my work with friends, on social media or with communities you are connected with. My work is shared primarily by word of mouth, and your help makes an enormous difference in helping me to reach more parents and families in need of support.
Offer a testimonial sharing what you value about my offerings. If my work helped you, please let me know! It really encourages me and helps others to build trust that change is possible.
Giving me feedback so I can keep improving what I offer. I am continuously improving my offerings to make them as supportive and transformative as possible. Your feedback really helps.
Contribute financially. If you would enjoy contributing to my work, and would find it easy and within your means to do so, every contribution makes a huge difference to me being able to continue to offer support to parents and families in this way. Every contribution is greatly appreciated and directly supports my work.
