A transformational 8 month programme supporting you to (finally) bring about the peaceful vision of family life you're longing for.
If you are sitting down to read this, we are guessing that your daily life with children often feels chaotic and exhausting. You may be trying so hard to make all the pieces work, and to bring about the caring, peaceful life that you want so much for your children. But when you are so worn down, it can feel impossible. How can you possibly have the energy to pull your whole family up when you have nothing left in your tank?
Firstly, we’d like to offer you some reassurance: it’s not your imagination (…modern parenting really IS that hard) and it’s not your fault. We were never supposed to be able to do it all alone!
Secondly, we would like to offer you some hope: from our own experience, and working with many other loving-but-exhausted parents, we’ve learned that transforming family life is a journey. While it may take time and effort, it’s entirely achievable.
We have designed this to be an intensive(ly) supportive programme, providing you with all of the resources and support you need so that you don’t have to navigate this path alone.
This programme is unique. We have designed it to be as accessible and transformational as possible, designed to meet the challenges of this time. It offers:
A self guided format that you can access from home when it suits you.
A range of different support options from us depending on what level of guidance you are wanting. You choose your level of support.
On a gift economy (pay what you are willing and able) basis. We want this support to be available to parents no matter their economic situation.
We would love for you to join us and take this journey together towards a more peaceful and fulfilling family life.
If you are ready to move out of patterns of overwhelm, conflict and chaos, and are motivated to put energy and time into this shift, we’d love to welcome you today!
"This course is life changing. I had a deep knowing that I wanted to parent differently but I didn't know how. There is so much information online that is often conflicting. It is overwhelming. This course provided a broad, deep approach based on love and connection. I continue to be blown away by the power of it. Truly transformative not only for parenting, but for life!”
"Sally and Jorinde have a special way about them. They have a magical ability to make you feel so comfortable that it enables you to break through the discomforts of sharing but this in turn creates such growth for deep reflection, growth and change within self, relationships and family life."
"Thank you ever so much Jorinde and Sally. You make such a wonderful team, and I'm so grateful to you both for introducing me to this way of parenting. It really is such a life changing gift. You are doing such valuable work which the world needs so much more of! Keep it up beautiful people!”
These were the tearful words of a mother of two who came to us at the very end of her capacity to cope alone. She is a strong and capable woman, deeply committed to her children, but the challenges in her family had exceeded her limits.
She was struggling each day with school refusal, behavior challenges, her daughter’s recent autism diagnosis, and a black-hole-sized longing for rest and support. She was exhausted, alone, and desperate to find a way forward.
Perhaps you started your parenting journey with high hopes and beautiful dreams. You read all the books, joined every Facebook group, and lovingly chose an organic bamboo sling – imagining joy-filled years of warmth, laughter, and playdough-scented togetherness with your children.
Instead, to your dismay, reality looks very different.
You find yourself exhausted and alone. Far from the ideal of sweet, rosy-faced connection around the dinner table, your days are filled with:
Bitter shouting matches
Hours of numbing screens
Piles of unfolded laundry
Outraged tantrums and slammed doors
Shouted (but unheard) pleas to “just get in the car, right now!”
The more we hear these stories, the more we see that this is not just your story, or mine, or hers – it is OUR story.
This is the story of a generation of parents struggling in chaos and confusion, battling to give our children the love and care they need; all while navigating an unprecedentedly challenging historical moment.
If you have tried toughness, reward charts, time out, firm boundaries and strict discipline, and nothing seems to work, you are not alone. These problems are as widespread (systemic…global!) as they are deeply personal (wired into our own and our children’s nervous systems). Approaches that focus on our children’s behaviour are not enough to fix this.
This programme consolidates modern scientific understanding of child development, attachment, and the art and science of connection into a format easily digested by busy parents.
It is not just a bunch of theory; it is a blue print for family change in today’s world.
We don’t just leave you to figure it out; we walk you through and be there each step to support you to implement this new understanding into your family life.
“What can I say? Absolutely everything resonated with me. I am really going to use these skills/tools in my life. This course feels like an awakening that I believe in and want to use to improve my relationships with my family. I loved the way Sally and Jorinde seemed to play to each other’s strengths, it is so obvious what a great team you make”
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The two of you collaborating/working together gives me such joy. You do have so much experience, wisdom, care and positive intention in presenting the learning of NVC. Your care for us all just shines from you. Thank you to you both.”
“I don't feel as alone as the odd/terrible/out of my depth as a parent. I also now have some tools to not be so out of my depth/overwhelmed. I'm recognizing the signs when I should stop and pay attention to my child's needs and my own. I learnt a lot about needs and feelings and while it was hard to tap into them I'm finding it a bit easier to do as a result of this course.”
We would love for you to join us and take this journey together towards a more peaceful and fulfilling family life!
We offer From Chaos to Connection in three formats to suit your needs, learning preferences and capacity. All pathways are offered on a Gift Economy (pay what you are willing and able) basis, because we want this programme to be available whatever your financial situation, with a recommended range for that path. You get to decide what level of support you would like (your pathway) and the contribution that works for you.
Gift request: $620-1240 NZD
This option is designed to give you everything you need to work through the programme in your own time. This self-guided format works really well for people who enjoy self-guided learning and are able and willing to set aside a regular time to work through the learning material and lessons. For those who find it challenging to work in this way, we recommend the group or accompanied options.
Gift request: $550 - $1100 NZD (group, season pass)
If you are wanting to do this programme with your partner, friends, family or others in your local community, we can give you the support and resources you need to work through the programme together. Register your group, and you will pay one amount for your group, which allows you to enrol up to 5 people. We also periodically run online cohorts you can join.
Gift request: $1485 - $2960 NZD
If you want one-on-one support, guidance and mentoring, this is an 8-month individual coaching programme where you can work one on one with Sally, and she will walk with you every step of the way. This is a deep and transformative experience, and a chance to be accompanied every step of the way.
(Places are limited, and there may be a waitlist for this option.)
Here are some answers to questions we are often asked about the programme so you can see if this is a good fit for you. If your question isn't here, please feel free to reach out to Sally to ask: connect@sallyprebble.nz.
This programme has been lovingly designed to support parents who are feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, but are ready and motivated to bring about deep, long-term change within themselves, their relationship with their children and in their family lives. It is intended to support people who are eager to devote the time, energy and effort to bringing this about.
This programme is likely to be a good fit for you if:
You are longing for a loving and easy connection with your children, but you are not sure about the best way to bring this into reality.
You are experiencing challenges in your family life, you are ready to change, but you are unsure what is the first step.
You are curious and eager to learn about your child, yourself, and the science and art of connection.
You have been actively seeking out support for some time now (through books, youtube, courses, therapy etc) but are confused about how to piece it all together to bring about meaningful change.
You feel uncertain or confused about different parenting approaches you see around you, with people in your life giving you contradictory advice. You want to find a way that works well for you and your children.
You are attracted to the principles of gentle-parenting approaches (e.g. peaceful parenting, simple parenting, conscious parenting, mindful parenting, attachment parenting or NVC parenting) but you want some support to apply and integrate the principles effectively into your daily life with your children.
You want to be confident in your parenting, even in moments of conflict or when there is challenging behaviour.
You find yourself using parenting strategies that don’t align with your values or your vision of what you want your life with your children to be like (e.g. shouting, hitting, guilt and shame tactics, rewards and punishments, overusing screens, bribes etc) but you are struggling to find other ways that work.
In quiet moments, your mind may wander to anxiety about your children and what might become of them (e.g. If they are like this now, will they become delinquents?? Will they ever be able to cope in the real world?) or may become lost in guilt or shame (Why did I shout again? What is wrong with me?!)
If you recognise yourself in any of these statements, this course is likely to be a good fit for your goals and aspirations.
Making a significant and lasting change in your family life takes time, practice, energy and commitment. In this programme, we have worked to make each bit as digestible, fun and simple as possible.
We recommend doing this programme over 8 months, but it is possible to do it faster if you are motivated and set aside the time to work through. It is not a passive "consumption" course. Real change involves your participation and active engagement.
Self-guided pathway - we recommend dedicating roughly 2 hours per week (think one morning or evening, in a cosy, quiet place with a journal, your phone or laptop and a cup of coffee). This would include:
Reading through the regular email from us.
Printing out or saving the worksheets and resources.
Watching a few video lessons, pausing periodically to do the exercises onto the prepared worksheets.
Setting aside a small daily window (5-10 mins) for journaling and self-reflection (first thing in the morning or right before bed).
Logging into the Community online area to share celebrations, intentions, or questions/challenges whenever you like.
Group/community options - similar to above, but replacing individual lessons with:
Coming together once per week or fortnight (depending on your agreed rhythm) for a couple of hours to watch some videos together and discussing and working through the guided exercises.
Meeting up weekly or fortnightly (phone or video chat) with an empathy buddy from within your group to check in and work through an exercise together.
Accompanied (individual coaching) option - to self paced, add:
A monthly individual coaching call with Sally, in which we will work through and challenges you are having, explore any roadblock to progress and answer any questions or challenges you are having.
Maybe...and maybe not.
It is our experience that for most parents, what you will learn in this programme will save you so much time and energy moving forward! The time and energy we loose in conflict, challenging behaviour, power struggles is enormous. This is an initial investment of time to bring huge rewards of freed up time and life energy down the track.
However, it is also the case that for some people, this initial investment of time and energy is too much for them.
Before you sign up, we invite you to pause and check.
We would love it if every parent had an opportunity to learn about connection and gain some skills to care more deeply for themselves and their children. We imagine the world would be a more peaceful and kinder place!
However, re-establishing connection with your child and yourself takes time, energy and commitment. It is our sincere wish that only those who have the capacity to engage in this programme sign up; we would love to support you to focus your precious life energy only on endeavours that will support and nurture you and your family.
This programme requires a willingness to self reflect, be open to new ideas and be open to try new behaviours and patterns.
This programme is NOT likely to be a good fit for you if:
You love the idea of this, but are just too busy to commit to around 3-4 hours each week. We believe that staying within our capacity is a radical and world-changing choice, and it is very important to us that any work we do together is entirely within your capacity. We want to support people to learn to trust their instincts about this. If this phase of life feels too full for you, and you sense this is not a realistic commitment, this programme is unlikely to work well for you and may add more pressure. Your reluctance to take on any more makes a lot of sense, and we really honour and appreciate your choice!
You have big changes or commitments in the next few months (e.g. moving house, changing jobs etc). If you think these changes will make it hard to find space and time to commit to this programme, perhaps this is not the right time for you. We hope you honour and take seriously any concerns you have about this, and choose to stay within your capacity.
You are experiencing significant life trauma or personal pain right now.In this case, you are likely to need more one-to-one support than the community format can offer, and our guided mentoring option might be a more supportive way for you to go through this programme. Please contact us if you would like to discuss our one-on-one support options.
You desperately want fast results. Sometimes we can feel really desperate for instant changes as parents: maybe the school has told you that unless your child starts behaving differently they will take punitive action, maybe you are estranged from your child and you are desperate to have them back right now, or maybe your partner has given you a frightening ultimatum about your child’s behaviour or your approach to parenting.
We really get the sense of urgency and the pain and frustration you are experiencing right now. And we also want to be transparent that it is our expectation that recreating this precious connection with ourselves and our children will not happen overnight. Deep and lasting change takes time, perseverance and practice; and ultimately a lifelong commitment beyond our time together to prioritise peace, presence and connection. There are many ways to force compliance with your child in the short term, but in our experience these short term methods are very costly to our relationships in the long run.
The invitation in this programme is to slow down in order that we can eventually speed up…together. If you do not have the time, space or willingness in your life at this point to slowly, patiently rebuild this connection, our guess is that this course will be challenging and frustrating for you.
If, after reading this, you are still unsure whether this programme is right for you in this particular season of your life, you are very welcome to contact us for a chat. We are very open to helping you to discern whether it is likely to be the best step for you right now. If so, we are so excited for you to join us!
We welcome a limited number of people into the programme at any given time, because we want to make sure we are able to care for and nurture each person to make the changes they want to make in their lives.
We have a (very simple!) application process we ask you to complete before entering the programme, involving a form to complete to let us know a bit about your situation and why you are drawn to the course. This process allows us to decide (together) whether this programme will be a good fit for you and will best meet your needs at this moment in time.
We want to make sure:
We are going to be able to give you the level of support you need (for some people, individual coaching, mediation or even support from other trainers we know might be a better fit).
You are going to be able to give the time and energy to this programme (see “What is the time commitment” and “Am I too busy for this?”)
You are motivated and want to do the course. We can offer support, resources, community, care and expertise, but ultimately the changes in your family life will come from you. It is important to us that we prioritise our care and energy to people who are really wanting to make change.
This application process is a chance for you and us to check whether this is likely to be a good fit. No one is turned away, but we might check in with you if we think that the programme might not be a good fit for you right now or if we think that there are other options that might better suit your needs.
We offer this programme in three main formats because we recognise that people have very different learning styles, situations and needs.
If you enjoy learning in your own time, with the reassurance of occasional check ins and email support, choose the self-paced version. This option gives you the most freedom to set your own pace and learn in the way that works for you. You are welcome to email us with your questions, and you have two coffee chats with Sally (half-hour check ins) that you can book during your time.
If you prefer in-person connection, or would love to connect with other parents as you learn together, choose the group option. If you have your own local group of friends or are keen to organise a group in your local community, you can register together and start straight away. We also periodically run online cohorts, so you can add your name to our list for this.
If you want more intensive support, guidance and mentoring as you work through this programme, choose the accompanied pathway. Sally can be your personal guide to support you each step of the way. This option is best if you struggle to stay motivated working alone and would like someone to help you stay on track, or if you would like support to work through parenting guilt, grief, frustration or attachment challenges, or particular challenges with your child.
We ask that you contribute as much as you’re able, without overstretching or feeling resentful. A few things worth weighing:
Your financial means
The value you anticipate getting from the programme
What you consider a genuine gesture of your commitment
Your desire to support our continued work
We have recommended ranges for each pathway which reflect We trust you to land on an amount that considers our needs while also honouring your financial situation.
We really appreciate you naming this. It is common for people experience this, and we are sad knowing this holds some people back from joining.
We want to reassure you: it’s genuinely meaningful to us to offer this work to anyone who thinks they may benefit from it. That really matters to us. Because of this, we’re motivated to continually find other ways to run our programmes sustainably.
We’d invite you to step into courage and embrace this challenge, to see your participation in our programme as part of what a gift economy actually looks like in practice. By joining, even at a small contribution, you’re allowing this work to impact your family and relationships, which is exactly makes our work meaningful.
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work through [the programme. I have learnt so much about myself. Although this is just the start of a long learning journey I already appreciate more joy and ease in parenting and day-to-day life. I am also glad to learn to identify and sit with less pleasurable emotions such as guilt and anger and to be able to notice and mourn regrets and some deep sadnesses.”
“The course has been a game-changer for me - literally my nephew and I play more and more varied games than before because we enjoy each other's company in different scenarios. Feel much closer to the little mung bean yayyyyy!! Our connection has blossomed. Great course and fab videos and content - it is sooo clear that diversity is important to you in the videos and I appreciated the effort to show pics of people of other cultures/abilities and use inclusive language.”
“I am immensely grateful for the gift economy basis. It's the reason I got to experience this amazing course…Two of my friends have joined as well now. It is the support we mothers are so desperately needing. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere. Thank you so much!”
